Avoid These Bloopers with Your Promotional Bags
I know of a marketing disaster when a company sent us these beautiful promotional bags. But they were designed as knapsacks which were very fashionable with teenagers and not business owners like me. Result? These expensive, designer promotional bags were promptly trashed which, am sure, led to huge losses for the vendor. It also left me feeling slightly irritated with him – not a feeling that you might want your client to have towards you!
Screening your Promotional Bags
Promotional bags need to be carefully selected. First, see if the style of bag will match your client’s age, occupation, sex, location, hobbies, and so on. Obviously, you cannot give a promotional bag designed for a lady to man and so on. In some cultures where drinking is taboo, it’s not OK to give promotional wine bags and so on.
Perennial Favorites – Promotional Bags
What you can do, though, is stick to the tried and tested promotional bags. Feel free to give away CD holder bags which display your promotional information. Give away overnight promotional bags or briefcases or laptop bags which carry your logo, promotional slogan, and so on. Totes, gym bags, and even satchels are OK as promotional bags but do avoid obvious bloopers – like giving away vanity cases to old men who have lost their spouses (Don’t laugh, that has happened!) Women clients, of course, will just love to get their hands on a designer carry-all which looks expensive. If you insert your company logo tastefully in the corner, all the more better!
Tasteful and Elegant Promotional Bags
Next, ensure that the promotional bags are made from good quality material. Don’t skimp on costs – these babies will carry your marketing and merchandising information and you don’t want to look like a cheapskate. So decide whether you want your promotional bag made from cotton, denim, polyester, jute, straw, or other man-made materials and then buy the best quality you can afford.
Color Safe Promotional Bags
Also, select the colors very carefully. You don’t want your brand name or logo over-powered by bright neon backgrounds. Remember, if your promotional bag is too colorful, people may not use it at all. So select a neutral background but avoid white, as it gets too dirty, too fast. Beige, navy, maroon are safe choices but the all-time favorite color for a promotional bag is, of course, black.
