LCD scratch?
Today my little one decided to throw a pumice stone at me while on my Macbook. Anyway, the stone skipped across the LCD & there are now little tiny gouges on the screen (some deep, some not, but I can feel them with my finger & nail). I’ve done my research. Tried toothpaste & vaseline & even men’s shaving cream. Nothing. Apple wants $800 to repair it…OUCH. Not to mention it’s 6 mos old. Is there a product out there that can help? Some type of filler? I’ve seen stuff on line, but the testimonies are not so great. Any suggestions would be great. Even if I HAVE to replace it, is there somewhere cheaper I can have it repaired? Serious answers only please. Thanks for looking!
If the screen still works, you might think about just sucking it up and living with it. It’s not a repair you can do yourself unless you have some experience and are willing to take a risk.
I think it’s unlikely that you can talk Apple into a warranty repair because the problem is damage, not component failure.
By the way, don’t pay any attention to the Mac-hating PC types. PC users, especially those in IT, hate and fear the Mac because it is a threat. The screen will cost more than a PC LCD screen, yes, but just think of the money and time you aren’t spending fighting viruses, the blue screen of death, not to mention the sleep you aren’t losing for fear that someone has hacked your PC and stolen your SSN and credit card numbers.
